This week has been a blast! With my last district meeting of the transfer, to Halloween, this week has been full of great adventures. I will write some of my favorite events of the week!
We met with a house-ridden woman who was 92. She is so sweet. We have to talk really loudly because she can't hear. She does most of the talking though. She told us about some of her daily struggles such as having to watch all the re-runs on TV. She keeps this little picture frame with her at all times that reads, "The Lord will never leave you or forsake you." I thought that was such a sweet sentiment for her to read so often. She says she takes it with her EVERYWHERE. We kept complimenting it and she said that she only had one of them or else she would give to us. It was so, so sweet. After we left her house and said a prayer with her, she hugged us and told us she would never forget our faces. She held our hands and kept smiling at us and then kissed both of our hands. It was such a sweet moment with such a caring and kind woman. Her daughter was so grateful that we stopped by as well. It is such an amazing feeling to know that you are helping someone just by talking to them. She was so appreciative of us stopping by and I could really feel the love that she had for us and also for the Lord.
Later in the week, we were able to help one of my favorite ladies in the ward clean her house. She kept apologizing for how messy it was, but it really wasn't that bad at all. I loved doing something that she couldn't do for herself. Serving people when they appreciate it so much is so great. It feels amazing.
Yesterday at sacrament, a ward member said something that I really liked. He has gotten in the Spirit of missionary work and has chosen to share articles from General conference with his co-workers. This is such a simple and non-threatening way to share the gospel. He would give them the article and ask them after what their opinion on it was. He works at UNC and displaying church doctrine as simply an article, allowed him to share the gospel in a non-threatening way. I really look up to his example and I hope all the members of our church get into the missionary spirit.
I love you all so much and hope you are doing well. The fall is fantastic here and I am enjoying it so much! :)
