We continued on in the lesson and got to the portion about Adam and Eve. Most people here know the story but definitely have a different take on it. I felt inspired to read 2 Nephi 2:23-25 and we all pitched in to read. Although we did some brief explanations, the Book of Mormon is really what touched her heart. As we read the last verse (25). "And Adam fell that men might be, and men are, that they might have joy." the Spirit completely enveloped the room and it was incredible. After a pause of silence, K said, "Oh, that makes sense." It was the most beautiful moment that we shared with her. It's true what the say, "The Book of Mormon combined with the Spirit is the most effective tool in conversion." We testified of more of the Plan of Salvation and she opened up to us a lot as we shared our own personal experiences with the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
That same day, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did. We had a lesson with cynthia and it was incredible. One of the best feelings I have ever had.
So, our lesson with C & E we planned to teach about the Restoration of the Priesthood. And that we did. We felt she needed a more clear understanding of what it meant when we asked, "Will you be baptized by someone holding the priesthood authority of God?" She has had a harder time than some, committing to baptism. I know it is because she is so sincere in seeking her answer from God. Anyway, we got in the lesson and all was well. Interrupting, C mumbled something about how she was "done praying" and now she was "just figuring out the steps." Sister B backed her up and said - "WHAT?" C repeated herself and told us she wanted to become a member of our Church. LIKE WHAT? She completely threw us off guard! All those times we had invited her to baptism, (and it was a lot), she shyed away from answering the question specifically. And now, out of the blue, she told us in the most casual way.
I wish everyone could have seen our reactions. Sister B and I were straight-up GIDDY! We laughed and both of our faces turned bright read and we were just basking in the Spirit. It was the most incredible feeling. I know Cynthia liked our reaction too. It was quite the show.
She went on to tell us that she didn't realize us coming over was a direct answer to her prayers of long before. She left it at that and we continued to talk about the Priesthood. Wow. What an experience.
Two days later, we had another great lesson that hit it out of the park as well. Background info on T: grew up in foster care w/ her siblings, them they got separated and just found each other through Facebook 15 years later. It's like the most miraculous story and she is just an amazing person. Her sister is a member ( I think she married a member & later got baptized) and referred her online to get visited by the missionaries. Gotta love media referrals. You really, really do. Anyway, this visit was her fourth visit (after the Elders taught her twice & referred us to go see her.) We wanted to g more in depth about the Prophet Joseph Smith. We brought the Restoration video (liek good missionaries do ;)) and she LOVED it. I honestly could barely pay attention to the actual movie because I was praying the whole time that her tiny cute baby wouldn't distract from the Spirit. Her two questions during the video were probably my favorite. 1) "Is he (Joseph Smith) going to all the 'bad' churches?" haha! We proceeded to tell her why he was going to so many churches. 2) At the end of the video, she asked, "So, did he get to become a preacher and tell everyone the whole truth?" haha! She's great.
We continued on to testify of Joseph Smith and also asked her her thoughts of the movie. She said that she had felt the Spirit when she went to other churches, but she felt it alot more when she watched that movie. She was making the greatest comments about how it was the full truth and how great it was. What an amazing lesson. I know she is being prepared :)
Okay, okay, okay...finally...the finale of it all. Sunday at church. Fast & testimony meeting. 9 am (new time). Just setting the scene for the miraculous story that will follow. :)
We taught C & E, her daughter, the law of the fast the day before and explained testimony meeting. They were all for it. Their language has changed to , "Oh...and after my baptism..." this & that. I LOVE IT! So much. Anyway, C has a lot of health problems and we told her to not fast if it would get in the way with her health.
So, after the sacrament was passed, C asked if now was the time for testimonies. We said yes. She bore such a sincere and humble testimony. She talked about how much she loves the Lord and how he was preparing her for something greater. It was such an amazing meeting. She talked about how she can see the brightness and love in all the faces that come to visit and teach her. She talked about how much she loves Sister B & I and how we were 2 angels sent to her home. She praised our diligence & obedience and there was nothing quite better than that. All day, people referenced her heartfelt testimony. It was amazing. Truly amazing. What a weekend of miracles.
