OKAY!

I'M SO DISTRACTED! haha just kidding. Hear me out. Side note: "Hear me  out" is a phrase often used in our apartment. It it used for when I want to say a really detailed and intricate plan that may or may not work but I don't want to be interrupted with why can't work. It originated with Sister B and it's coming back really strong haha. With Sister E it served a whole 'nother purpose that we can all talk about post mission...... lawlz... anyway...

This week was wonderful. It really was. I survived bike week! Again! haha I seriously have to say that after every bike week. Especially in this North Carolina heat. (also, my shift bar is sticking so i'm going to stop capitalizing as much as i should). Sorry. but i'm sure it will still happen sometimes out of habit.

anyway...

i will relay some of my great experiences here.
1) we had a fantastic lesson with our investigator, d. we had it all set up more than a week in advance with our member and then the member fell through. and that happens. but we were like ahhhhh how can this work now we have to call everyone on the roster. haha jk jk jk but this how we found out she fell through. during ward council, a bishopric member said she posted on the ward fb page about how she needed someone to cover for her. haha totally put on the spot for us that we didn't know. gotta be checking our fb more, but we have too much to do to bike in the heat to go on fb. hahaha. fb is not one of our main sources to find people right now.... which is okay. everything has its season. or so they say.

anyway, then someone else from the ward council volunteered their home, but then we didn't have a ride and blah blah everything seemed like it wasn't going to happen... sighhhh! so, we continued with faith, made a few calls, and our lovely bishop wife's came through for us. she is literally one of the most amazing women i have ever met. there is just something about her. you may seen me write about her in the past? idk... she has complications with her pregnancies, but this one is a miracle and she is not on bed rest. she serves RELENTLESSLY (thank you caps lock). It is the most inspiring thing. she arranged for us to make it to her place (like 10 miles away) for the lesson with D. but not only that, she said, do you want to come for dinner to? haha IDK it seems like a really small thing but if you knew the whole situation you would see how selfless their family is. bishop and his visiting niece drove all the way down to get us and drove us back so that we could have dinner with them and have our lesson there.

the lesson went incredibly. seriously. we had gotten a call from her and she was kind of hesitant to continue meeting with us and we really needed to see her---that night. like seriously. so, the Lord provided a way for it to happen. and we really felt the spirit. we addressed her concerns and really focused on receiving revelation through the book of mormon. no coincidence that that is exactly what sister z's training was on this week. it was her turn to lead out in that area and she did an incredible job. she is such a good missionary. i really love being her companion.

back to the distracted comment from the beginning, i was referring to distracted from writing this group email because i got so many good emails from so many great people. haha. but i'm trying to send a good email to y'all folks.

haha yesterday sis z and d were talking about the most southern sentence they could say. people here say "foil" or "oil" real southern like. it's sooo funny. but, i do admit that one day i almost said, "i reckon...." and then i started laughing sister z was like what is going on? and then i told her that reckon was seriously a verb i almost used... lawlz.

this whole no capitalizing thing really makes me more causal. it isn't really dignified to not have good grammar but... life goes on.

anyway (my favorite word apparently)

the second amazing thing i really wanted to touch on was going to the lil farmer's market in knightdale. it was so much fun. it was on a saturday and we were just trying to use a different way to find people to teach. we weren't sure how effective it would be but really made some good contacts. i walked away (like one booth over, don't worry- no disobedience) for a brief second to try this homemade jam (i love jam, and i love samples) and I came back and sister z was handing her a book of mormon and saying how grateful she was for sharing all that with her. hahahha and then the lady (who was selling dog bandanas, in case you were wondering) said "you know, you might just see me at church next sunday." hahahhahaha she is amazing and if that story doesn't tell you that, I don't know what will. haha i love her. and again, i love free samples. we are going to go back in a few weeks so i can follow up with this organic potato man to see if he prayed over his crops. hahahhaha. it was so much fun.

we went on a longggggg bike ride on tuesday and it was very hot. this woman told it was "code orange" that day. we didn't really know what that means. also, i still question if it's a real thing. but she told us it had something to do with the air quality and pollution and blah blah and that no one was supposed to be outside that day if they didn't have to be. well... sorry... we're missionaries and we needed to be out. so we made a few good contacts and then went back for our bikes so we could go further away. with the biking we did, we really only made one good contact where we were able to give them a copy of the book of mormon. we are trying to be better at talking with everyone. so we got to meet someone with my same name!!! she is probably 17 and her and her friend were outside because their AC was broken. anyway, she said she would like to be closer to her family and then we could call her next week. i read alma 38:5 with her and subbed (#sub) our name in, in place of shiblon. haha i said to sister z, sorry, we're going to have to leave you for this one. lawlz. she said she had never met someone with her same name, spelled the same way. it was great. (first time that happened to me was 9th grade volleyball lol.)

we biked a whole lot and didn't really have any other interaction that was too productive (but we tried! that's what counts! haha). we biked home and i said that "if meeting kristen and writing her name in the area book was all that ever happened with her (this being the worst case scenario) and that missionaries only ever made that 6th interaction with her (there's a rumor going around that people need 7 good interactions with the church before they will join... im not sure i buy into it but i was just going with it) then i would be happy." but... luckily for us, we got a text from a ward member that day and kristen is friends with one of the youth in our ward and told him she met the missionaries and had that whole talk with him.

POINT OF THE STORY: you need to refer the missionaries to your friends. or they'll tract into them... so you might as well just make the process go faster and more productively by doing your duty and being a good member missionary. haha (not to say he isn't, he actually really is and talks to a lot of his friends about the gospel, they were more of acquaintances.

The other two highlights I was going to say are going to have to be cliff-hangers that you never get the answers to. We were blessed to be able to do a lot of service for members this week. yes, i know that sounds like a generic sentence. but it's not. it's taken so long for that to be able to happen. people! let the missionaries serve you! haha it was wonderfully being in their home (and in pants) and helping them lighten their burdens.

and the other thing is that we received revelation through the book of mormon. A LOT. :)

OKAY. i love my fans. in honor of sister knuth, i will do "hand written fanz" to give a shout out to some great people who write me.
