YUP. I got transferred. For the first time. It was crazy. I was really excited about it and all that jazz though. I definitely could not have foreseen the excitement and challenges that were ahead.
My theme scripture for the transfer- Alma 42:29
In a way, this scriptures tells me... STOP BEING A CONTROL FREAK! Focus on the things you can control and the things you personally can improve on. Focus on your personal worthiness, first and foremost. I found this scripture in my daily reading and it just hit me so hard. I know that this is going to be such a hard transition for me to move from Durham to Knightdale. It already has been in a lot of ways. But there are so many things I can do to help this area and help myself find happiness.

"And now, my son, I desire that ye should let these things trouble you no more, and only let your sins trouble you, with that trouble which shall bring you down unto repentance."

My theme quote for the transfer (it's not like I choose one every transfer but this was a MUST for this transfer)
"Our focus should be on righteousness, not recognition; on service, not status... Visibility does not equate to value... When we understandwhy we serve, we will not worry about where we serve." -President Howard W. Hunter
This quote can apply to soooo many things. For some it can apply to getting a mission call in a "less desirable" place (LUCKILY FOR ME THE NCRM IS THE BEST MISSION!!! I LOVE THE SOUTH! lol-but seriously). For some it could be wanting to serve in a leadership position in school or church. For some (ME) it may apply to leaving that lovely lil land of Durham and coming to a nerve-wracking new area called Knightdale. This quote just HIT me so hard. I know that I am supposed to be here in Knightdale but the adjustment is hitting me like I didn't suspect it would.
Luckily, I have a wonderful new companion to help me cope. She has been in the ward for just 6 weeks and we are learning a lot together. But get this... this is her last transfer! She will have completed her 18 months as a full-time missionary by the end of this transfer. She is smart and kind and so easy to get along with. She is so different than all of my other companions but we have so much fun together. We talk about all sorts of stuff is she is very open and helps me understand my feelings better. Oh yeah! And she's my first companion not from Utah! She is from California haha So it's great (nothing against Utahans... but.... ya know... ;))
Things I love about Knightdale
- We have a really nice bishop here.
- There are a lot of young kids and a lot of youth.
- We live in a 2 bed/bath thang (two story).
- My companion is so great.
- Sometimes people smile at us here.
- Sometimes people have accents here.
