TO CREATE YOUR OWN MISSIONARY PORTAL:
Go to the link above and sign in with your regular LDS account information. Then, you will have a PIN in your mission packet and type that into where it tells you to. After that, it should pop up with the picture you submited, a flag of your mission state/country, and a countdown to when you leave.
Basically, the Missionary Portal has three types of training: pre-MTC, MTC, and in-field. The Pre-MTC training consists of temple attendance, reading the Book of Mormon, watching "The District," learning about your family history, and reading the Missionary Handbook. It already is set up with my little North Carolina flag and I count down until when I go. So exciting! :)
The Mormon.org profile is something any member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints can go and create. It is a way to reach out to people and share your story about why you choose to be a member of the Church. You can find mine here.
"How I live my faith" was kind of a hard question to answer. I just wrote about how even though I grew up in the Church, I had to make a personal decision to commit to living the doctrines taught by the Church. And that is absolutely true. Even though I have spent my freshman year at BYU and most people think that that would make it easier to go to church... that is not always true. Being stuck in the BYU bubble has been a really hard challenge for me. Everyone is talented here and it makes me feel bad sometimes. It is so easy to not go to church because your Mom isn't there to make you go. I know that is such a cliche example but it is so true. I remember one specific Sunday it was broadcast meeting and all my roommates walked to the Marriott center and I did NOT want to get up. They left me without much of a second guess because they couldn't decide how I would spend my Sunday morning. Eventually, five minutes before the meeting started, I forced myself out of bed and drove to a local married ward and sat there alone. It was quite a funny experience but it did show my commitment to go to church.
Choosing the right is not always easy but I am always glad when I do.
